Education and Information Services
We're constantly re-writing the
book on corrosion protection! Keep your infrastructural coatings
knowledge up-to-date with our popular technical, application and
specification programs.
Brown
Bag Seminars™
These two-hour on-site introductory seminars are both
interactive and entertaining. They provide basic technical
information about the evolution of, and current uses for, high
performance corrosion prevention coatings. Emphasis is on high
solids and 100% solids polyurethane and epoxy technologies. The
latest technological advances will also be discussed, along with
upcoming developments. Madison’s Brown Bag SeminarsTM qualify for
AIA and CEU professional development credits. These seminars are
customized for your particular group and will be of interest to
project engineers, specifiers, end users and professional
applicators. Application characteristics, performance
characteristics, case histories and comparative data are included.
As the name suggests, Brown Bag Seminars™ are usually held over the
lunch hour at the customer's location of choice.
Approved Applicator and Certified O.E.M. Training
This
multi-day program is designed to provide Level 2 Certification (for
plural component products and equipment) or Level 1 Certification
(for more paint-like products and applications) to a professional
industrial coatings application company. The emphasis is on a
combination of practical classroom and hands-on training.
The goal is to certify the company as an Approved Applicator and
the individual attendees as Madison Sharp Shooters™. Madison's
product warranties only apply where an application is performed by a
Sharp Shooter working for an Approved Applicator. This provides our
network of applicators with a competitive advantage and protects our
customers from the costs and headaches associated with poor
workmanship.
Approved Applicator training takes place at the customer's
premises, using equipment sourced through Madison or configured to
our specifications. Extensive course material is provided. Sharp
Shooters™ graduate with a basic level of knowledge in the use and
application of high performance coatings, surface preparation,
trouble shooting, inspection and repair, safety and equipment
maintenance. The course is hosted by NACE Certified Coating
Inspectors.
A similar training program is available to Madison's O.E.M.
customers, who can be trained as Certified O.E.M. Applicators.
Training focuses on O.E.M. situations, e.g. steel fabrication shops.
Sharp Shooters™ Training
Sharp Shooters™ is an advanced applicator training program that
allows potential and existing applicators to gain superior technical
expertise in polyurethane technology, corrosion protection
principles, application techniques and equipment efficiencies. This
high quality educational seminar is the only one of its kind in
North America and offers participants an optimum balance of hands-on
and lecture-based training from NACE-certified Coating Inspectors.
Trainees will leave this world-class training program, held at
Madison's head office near Toronto, Ontario, as experts in the
techniques that ensure success in polyurethane application.
Coatings College
Many
"stakeholders" want a broader overview of high solids and 100%
solids polyurethane, polyurea and epoxy coatings. Held at Madison's
head office, this two day instructional course explains the history,
uses, features, benefits and upcoming trends that apply to these
technologies. Coatings College courses are held periodically
throughout the year. They will be of interest to specifiers,
inspectors, end users, quality control personnel, productions
supervisors and other management personnel. Brown Bag Seminar™
attendees often sign up for Coatings College to find out more about
these fascinating technologies. The overall goal is to provide an
overview of how these leading-edge products are changing the
coatings landscape and making possible huge advances in the
protecting and preserving of our infrastructure. There is strong
emphasis on inspection, quality control, design life and
specifications.
Certified Polyurethane Coatings Inspector
There
are two Coatings Inspector Programs offered by Madison. For the
Original Equipment Manufacturer who is using high performance
coatings in a production setting, a one-day seminar with an
"on-line" orientation is offered. This fact-filled session will
touch on all the areas in which the attendee needs to develop
further expertise in order to carry out complete and accurate
inspection of the polyurethane and epoxy coatings applied at their
facility. Recommended prerequisites for this course include NACE or
SSPC Certified Coating Inspector training or successful completion
of NACE CIP Level 2.
The second program is geared to Third Party Inspectors. The
topics are similar to the above O.E.M. seminar, but this longer
(two-day) course offers broader and more in-depth training for
specifying engineers, consultants, coating contractors, project
managers, owner representatives, quality assurance professionals and
NACE/SSPC Certified Coatings Inspectors. Upon completion of this
course, trainees will be qualified to offer third-party inspection
of Madison coatings for warranty purposes.
