Introduction to NanoShield™
Madison’s Proprietary Ceramic Modified (“CM”) Technology
Why Ceramic Modification?
Madison’s polyurethane coatings exhibit such high structural integrity that they are inherently resistant to abrasive conditions found in most atmospheric, immersion and embedded service. Occasionally however, certain applications require the very highest level of abrasion resistance. For exceptionally abrasive effluents found in mining operations or wind swept sand and grit pounding a utility tower, as examples, we realized the coatings needed a boost.
Ceramic is one of the hardest, most durable substances known to man. There is good reason why it’s used commonly in flooring applications! In 2000, Madison developed a process whereby extremely fine ceramic nano-spheres could be incorporated into the formulation of many of our products. The outcome was exceptionally abrasion resistant coatings, often three times more abrasion resistant than the original ‘non-fortified’ versions. The name of this additive is Madison NanoShield.
