MG 220
Protective Primer/Sealer
MG 220 is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy coating that is supplied in a 1:1 ratio, Mix-and-Apply format. It is similar to MG-201 but is heavier bodied and can be applied at film builds of 5 mils or more.
MG 220 has several unique properties. On steel and ductile iron, it achieves extremely high adhesion values on hand-tool-prepared surfaces, making it perfect for coating small parts and hard-to-sandblast areas on larger structures. On concrete, it is highly resistant to off-gassing and bonds tenaciously, making it the ideal base coat for concrete tanks, pipes, floors and walls. On wood, it actually strengthens and fortifies the substrate – even damaged or rotted sections.
MG 201 is typically top coated with any of several Madison polyurethanes, including fast setting, aromatic CorroCote products, such as CorroCote Classic and PW Ultra, as well as UV stable (aliphatic) products, such as AcrylaThane 55 and 5200. Refer to the individual product technical data sheets for greater detail.
Application Summary
MG 220 is a Mix-and-Apply system with a 1:1 mix ratio by volume. Both components should be between 21°C and 32°C prior to mixing. Mix "A" and "B" components together prior to brushing or spraying onto structure. This product may not penetrate as far as MG-201 in porous substrates but a surface build of 5 mils or more can be achieved. This product will not cure properly at temperatures below 10°C. Depending on ambient conditions, recoat window may be up to several days. View the MG 220 Application Instruction Bulletin for additional application information.
