MariThane Aluminized Primer
Paint-like Multi-Purpose Marine Primer
MariThane Aluminized Primer is a paint-like polyurethane resin primer/coating heavily loaded with leafing aluminum flakes. These flakes stack like miniature corn flakes to provide a physical barrier to water permeability and thus protect against corrosion. It is designed for marine applications where long term corrosion protection is required for moderate atmospheric (non-immersion) service.
Surface tolerant, it is especially suited to problem surfaces such as partially rusted steel or galvanizing, where it functions like penetrating oil. Paint-like to apply, MariThane Aluminized Primer polymerizes to form a monolithic film at low thicknesses (two to three dry mils). Customers consider this product to be very user friendly.
This product is typically teamed up with Madison's MariThane 1:4 Aliphatic topcoats. Where color selection is not an issue, it may be used on its own (2 coats recommended) as an effective corrosion barrier on steel. It will also perform well on concrete as a barrier coating.
