Flexcel II

Elastomeric Polymer Coating

Flexcel II is a polyurethane elastomer that looks, feels and performs like a sheet of rubber bonded tightly to the substrate, yet is applied in exactly the same familiar way as all of Madison’s other fast set 1:1 solvent-free products. As a result, Flexcel II provides excellent abrasion and impact resistance – among the highest of any of Madison’s products.

Because it is an elastomer, Flexcel II is primarily intended for concrete, where movement is greater as a result of freeze-thaw cycling. It has the capability of bridging small cracks. On steel and ductile iron, it is usually preferable to use our rigid or “structural” coatings such as PW, or Plus because of their superior adhesion, perm rating and hydrophobicity. However, where ultra-high abrasion resistance is the number one criterion on any type of structure, Flexcel II is the product of choice.

Typical Applications

  • Concrete vessels, inside and out, including potable water applications, to replicate natural rubber linings
  • Also used on metal substrates where unusual amounts of impact or abrasion are expected

Approvals and Listings

  • NSF International: ANSI/NSF Standard 61
  • Complies with US Food & Drug Administration: 21 CFR177.1680 for dry food contact

Application Summary and Technical Data

Flexcel II can be spray applied at any ambient temperature, in a single multi-pass coat, to any desired thickness. This fast and trouble-free application improves productivity and increases throughput. Having zero VOC's, this coating is also excellent for areas with strict regulations.

Available Variation

Flexcel II (AM) is an anti-microbial version that offers protection against bacterial attack. Although the standard formulation is not susceptible to bacteria attack, the EPA registered anti-microbial agent in Flexcel (AM) provides for extended service life in wastewater applications.
