The Essence of Madison

While it is accurate to say that Madison makes protective coatings, that description doesn’t get to the essence of who we are and what we stand for.

At the core of our DNA, we are pioneers. Our Vision is to be “The Technology Leader For Infrastructural Coatings”.

In order for our Vision to become our Destiny, we embarked 35 years ago on a quest, a single-minded campaign to protect and preserve the infrastructure around us.

To do this, we became problem solvers, highly motivated to address the real and unmet needs of our customers and to make a positive impact on society as a whole. We also became opportunity partners, helping our customers expand and diversify in unique ways and to adopt technologies that would drive up quality, drive down costs and open new doors.

However, our unique Technology is only one of three “pillars” that have made Madison a success. Another is our Value System and Culture: customer-centric, results driven, systems-oriented, strategic and quality-focused. The third is our People: passionate, team-oriented, disciplined, planful, highly trained, organized people with a teachable spirit, a commitment to continuous learning and a desire to take us and our customers to higher and higher levels.

Three Distinct Divisions

Madison has evolved quickly in recent years and now has three distinct divisions: Infrastructural, Maintenance and Consumer Products.

Infrastructural Division

The website you are now exploring describes our Infrastructural Coatings and the markets they service: water/wastewater, steel structures, specialty OEM, pipe coatings, utility structures, tank coatings, marine and wind towers, among others.

Maintenance Division

Visit our maintenance website, GemThane.com, to see a broad range of what we call “Mission Critical Maintenance Coatings”. These are user-friendly products that deliver exceptional performance yet are deceptively paint-like to use. The GemThane motto is “Where Paint Just Isn’t Good Enough”.

GemThane coatings are used in almost any imaginable application involving the long-term protection of a paintable surface. GemThane markets include theatre arts, colleges, health care, pharma, food processing, electrical utilities, places of public assembly (everything from churches to theme parks), residential and architectural.

Specific GemThane applications include cooling tower rehabilitation, transformer radiator refurbishing, theatre stage floors, coating of building exteriors (from steel and aluminum to vinyl and stone), concrete floors, and railings.

Consumer Products Division

Our third division, Consumer Products, was launched in 2006 and quickly grew to the point that it warranted its own website, GemthaneSiding.com. As you might expect, the first product launched by this division was polymer coated, low maintenance wood siding. This unique product consists of cabinet-grade wood encapsulated in a polymer cocoon, called Cottage Coat, that’s so tough you could use it to coat the hull of your boat or line your concrete swimming pool! Very cool stuff and quickly moving to a position of market dominance. For fun, go to the website and check out our ColourWise Selector Tool. Warning: it’s addictive! In 2009, GemThane Siding was joined by Dex-n-Dox, the world’s first – and only – low maintenance real wood decking product. Both products are backed up with robust warranties.
